Our Founder:

I’m Shonna Perry, co-founder of Desert Health Coach.  Over the past 10 years, My husband and I have had the honor and pleasure to assist hundreds of people adopt the habits necessary to reach and maintain a healthy lifestyle. I began my personal journey as a fat, indulgent and angry human. I had no hope of ever living a fulfilling and healthy lifestyle.  That changed when I adopted 6 specific habits of health and became the creator in my life and not the victim.  Coaching has given me the opportunity to take personal development to a higher level, and to live a life of meaning and purpose in a way I never knew possible.  This is the experience we hope for all our clients.

Desert Health Coach can help people adopt Shona’s 6 specific habits of health, which are designed to give a person more control over his or her life. Transforming them from a victim, into a creator of their own reality.

My Background:

As a kid, I was teased in school, a lot. And to make it worse, we moved several times so I seemed to always be the new kid.   I learned to keep to myself, but I became a student of human nature, and really built some empathetic muscles.

I come from a long line of public servants.  My great grandfather was a US Marshal, my dad was a Police Officer and my brother and I followed with careers in law enforcement…. Until we jumped to the ‘other side’ and spent the majority of our careers in the Fire Service.  I loved working where I could help people, but it was short lived.  I never experienced the outcome of a situation.  It wasn’t personal enough.

I retired from the fire service in 1998 at the age of 39.  It was too soon to hang up my hat, but I really didn’t want to work for anyone, ever again. I volunteered for 10 years or so.  It was fun in the beginning, but, when you are there for free, people can abuse your willingness to help, and staying too long isn’t good for anyone.

I was looking for something when I became a coach. I didn’t expect it. For some reason, it spoke to me.  So I jumped in the shallow end to see what it was like. It wasn’t long before I realized that something inside of me had craved this kind of service for a very long time.  It seems like I blinked and 10 years went by!

I can hardly wait to get out of bed in the morning to see who the next person is to raise their hand so they can  begin to create the life they dream of.
